Current All-Star Returns
All Star Balloting is still in effect, for the February 17, 2007 All-Star game.
Here's what the fans want in the East..
Guards: Vince Carter & Dwyane Wade
Forwards: Lebron James& Chris Bosh
Center: Shaq
And for the West:
Guards: Kobe & T-Mac (* interesting note, AI is in 3rd behind T-Mac by 50,000 votes)
Forwards: Tim Duncan and KG
Center: Yao Ming (2nd is Amare Stoudamire)
Right now Shaq and Yao have been sidelined by injuries. The word on Yao is he won't be able to return by All-star time. Shaq is the "Big Enigma" right now, sitting out many a game, season after a season..hate to say it, but he just might be closing in on retirement in a few seasons. If Shaq isn't playing in the East, it would be nice to see Dwight Howard get the starting Center role. Going against Amare for the West..now this All-star game is shaping up to be a classic.
Carmelo Anthony was having an All-star year before the "brawl". He probably would be deserving of a reserve spot if not for missing almost half of the 1st half of NBA games due to a suspension. His teammate Marcus Camby may just make it on as a reserve center. AI as a reserve guard. Depends if the coaches see fit to.
Gilbert Arenas and Chauncey Billups will be likely reserves in the East. Out West I expect at least a few Jazz (Boozer & Derron Williams), Steve Nash, Dirk Nowitski and maybe Shawn Marion.
All that said, if neither Shaq nor Yao make this All-star game start, this could be one fun up-tempo contest to witness. Stop by NBA.com and cast your ballot to get your favorite guys into the game!
