NBA Notes 12/22/06

Tonight makes for some great stories in the NBA..13 games tonight, so should make for great action and highlights..

Of course topping the list is the whole "will AI debut in Denver tonight vs the Kings? ". You see the complication is Denver is still digging out from a blizzard (they already postponed their contest vs the Suns this past Wed). The issues with the weather make for a tough situation. Iverson is in Philly as of this AM, Andre Miller is still in Denver. Both players need to get to their new home cities and pass physicals, in order for AI to make the start tonight..Will he play? Right about now, Denver's hoping for it. Apparently Denver is footing the bill for a private jet to get Miller to Philly safely.

Less notable will be Andre Miller's debut, if he makes it to Philly. The Sixers play the Celtics tonight. Andre can get a feel for the less run and gun style of the Sixers now.

Also, not to be outdone, the Phoenix Suns will play the Wizards as the Suns go for their 16th straight win. Keep in mind that the Wizards already played spoilers to the Dallas Mavs who had an impressive streak going earlier this year. It wouldn't be surprising to see it happen again, however Phoenix is playing terrific ball. This game will be the nightcap game at 10:30 PM EST on ESPN, following the Spurs Rockets contest.

It appears Melo has chosen not to appeal his suspension of 15 games and will do the time. Wise move by one of the NBA's top stars. He did after all throw a "sucker punch" heard round the league. JR Smith meanwhile is appealing his suspension. The question is what is there to appeal, he tangled with little man Nate Robinson and the 2 went flying into the front row near the basket. Does he really think he's undeserving of 10 games?

There aren't too many more notable stories, exception maybe the Bulls visit to MSG. The Knicks have had 2 "close call" buzzer beater victories in the absences of the suspended brawlers. Tonight Ben Gordon pays a visit to his homestate where he has been a Knicks killer several times.

Enjoy the action, and happy holidays!
