Around the NBA 12/08/06

Friday 12/08/06 provided alot of great NBA storylines:

-The major news was Allen Iverson supposedly not playing vs the Wizards due to back spasms. AI was not even in attendance for the game. Later it was revealed AI has asked for a trade, and the chairman of the Sixers confirmed this rumor, saying they would do their best to accommodate Iverson.

-Despite all that news, the Sixers looked to be handing the Wizards a very odd defeat. Until Agent #0 and Caron Butler teamed up to take out the Sixers. Arenas had a buzzer beater 3 at the end of the 1st and 2nd quarters. He's on a mission..

-The Suns are the hottest team in the NBA, winning their 9th straight vs. the Boston Celtics. The Suns continue to display why their run and gun offense is tough to beat, and why they are the best 3 point shooting team in the league.

-The Bulls are the 2nd hottest team in the NBA, notching their 7th straight win tonight 93-90 over the Raptors. Bulls are finally looking like solid contenders for the East, but then again most of the teams they are beating are, from the East.

-Dwight Howard turned 21 today, happy birthday. Sportscenter reported that he had 105 double doubles before age 21, and that is 60 more than Shaq had. Unfortunately the Pistons got the win.. Howard got his 106th double double
to celebrate. Happy B-day Dwight!

-Carmelo and the Nuggets took out another scoring assault on the slumping Miami Heat. Seeing Melo and JR Smith with their high-flying act is a thing of beauty. The Heat are not looking anywhere near title contenders at this point. Good thing Dwyane Wade got his while Shaq, Zo and Payton are still able to play ball.

-The Lakers posted a victory over the Hawks without the services of #24. Good thing for the Lakers, and with Kobe back they are only that much better.

-Minnesota Timberwolves spoiled Coach Jerry Sloan's 1000th win, by defeating the Utah Jazz 110-103. Sloan should get that victory in the next few games.

-Rockets smashed the Bobcats by 30. Yao and T-Mac combined for 48 points, more than half the entire Rockets' total.

-Spurs smashed the Clippers, 112-82. Tony Parker had a career high 15 assists..Must be love.

-It was noted that the league office has been contacting various teams to ask if they have the previous leather basketballs available. Possible we will see the old ball re-introduced into the game. Just when everyone was starting to get adjusted right?
