Game Notes - Sixers vs Bulls

Sixers took on the Bulls on ESPN tonight in an Eastern Conference showdown. Bulls continue to be one of the hottest teams right now, extending their win streak 6 games, after dismantling Philly 121-94. The Bulls are now a .500 Eastern conference team, a rarity, with only 3 teams with winning records. They are beginning to show why they will be a team to be reckoned with come playoff time.

During the game, it was learned that at least 3 teams have a "no headband" policy, something I hadn't known. Not sure why, but Chicago, Utah and Orlando are the 3 teams that were mentioned. Doesn't make sense other than teams might find them disruptive to unity of the look of players on the court. If they aren't wearing one, I guess they can't throw it and get T'd either. It was noted that Ben Wallace was suspended one game for not observing this team rule.

They also discussed how David Stern is willing to take a look at the use of the new NBA ball, as many players have complained about it. He says they will need to analyze to the Nth degree in order to keep the players happy. It's good to hear Stern is able to do this, he's not exactly the power hungry authority figure many label him. He's still gotta rank as the best of the pro commissioners.

Allen Iverson left the game after the 3rd quarter. It was later reported by Becky Hammon that AI was having back spasms and he would not return. Not the best of news for A.I. and the sixers.

Ben Gordon came off the bench to score 17 in the first quarter, which was more than the entire Sixers team scored the first quarter (16).

2 of the game's tougher players were also a part of this contest. Ben Wallace is a monster, he must bench press and lift with cinder blocks. They even said he maxed out on the bench press before starting a game in Washington. He came outta nowhere in this league and has now established himself as one of the best rebounders and defenders in the NBA. Allen Iverson is a six-footer who plays with more heart than many a big man in the game. I've never been a huge fan of his, but can respect his game. He plays through alot of injuries, hurt, adversity, and thats what makes him a hall of fame caliber talent in this league. Wallace already has his NBA title, but Iverson does not and deserves one. Hopefully Iverson can get to a team that will get him that elusive gold.
