The Cavs Close Calls
The Cavs have now lost back-to-back games to the Detroit Pistons with identical scores 79-76, 79-76. The Cavs seemed to have a better chance to knock off the top dogs in the East, then the Jazz had at taking out San Antonio.
The last 2 minutes proved very interesting. Rasheed Wallace had what appeared to be a push off of Anderson Varaujo, and then hit a seemingly impossible fallaway side jumpshot. The Cavs then had a chance to take the lead with under 10 seconds to go. First Lebron tried a move in the lane, and missed the shot, leading to a rebound by Larry Hughes. Hughes basically missed a shot about 10 feet away from the rim, wide open. Anderson Varaujo then tried to tip the ball and it rimmed out, giving the Pistons the game, as Cleveland coach Mike Brown went off and received the Tech.
Now with two close call games, it appears the Pistons and Spurs are on a collision course to meet in the finals, a rematch from 2 seasons ago. The 2 top teams in the NBA and over the past 5-6 years, which is how it should be done. Lebron is still maturing as a player, and he is taking his lumps, similar to how MJ did versus the Pistons back in the late 80's early 90's. It took MJ a good 4 tries to finally overcome the adversaries and get to the Finals, meaning we should expect to see Lebron there in a year or two.
