Kobe's Nifty Fifty..

Kobe Bryant joined a VERY elite group of 2 (himself and Wilt Chamberlain), as the only 2 NBA players to ever score 50 or more points in 4 consecutive games.

Kobe also scored 50 on Friday (last night) vs the Houston rockets in a loss, making it his 5th game scoring 50 points this month, and giving him a month scoring average of 40 ppg!

Here are Kobe's stat lines from each of his 50 point games in March 07:

Granted the teams Kobe has notched 50 plus vs in this streak were not the NBA's cream of the crop, but scoring that many vs. Yao Ming or KG is nothing to shrug at. The question now becomes what will Kobe do for an encore?

Kobe already scored 81 total points last year in a game, which is second only to Wilt Chamberlain. Now he becomes the 2nd since Chamberlain to accomplish the 50 point game feat. It looks like pressure will be on Lebron James to do some more remarkable things in his career and put himself up into the status of elite players along with Kobe, Wilt, MJ, Magic and others...Lebron has plenty of time to do so..

That said, the NBA playoffs are surely going to be great this year, especially in the West. They say the East is wide open, but as the season is winding down, Detroit seems to look stronger and stronger as a unit. The Heat may have an outside shot as well..Stay tuned!
