Worst NBA Team?

So far looking at the records of Eastern Conference teams its hard to call a team "worst in the NBA", as so many Eastern squads are struggling to get to .500. You could pick the Sixers, losers of 7 straight now, as one of the worst, but they have played 3 less games then the Knicks, who sit 2nd in their division.

So looking at records as of now, the Grizzlies and the Bobcats both sit at 5-15. It's tough to say the Grizzlies are worst; they are without Pao Gasol, who's been injured and is clearly is the team's star/franchise player. The Bobcats seem to have a great collection of young talent on the court, but for some reason are still finding themselves. Having a rookie like Adam Morrison, who's adjusting to the league and the team doesn't make it easy. You could argue they should be better, but they are still young and don't have much experienced veteran leadership on that team right now.

That leaves Philadelphia, who made it to the playoffs with pretty much this same team (Iverson's missed just 1 game since trade rumors). They have the talents of Chris Webber, who is aging, and Andre Iguodola who's a high flyer/scorer. Kyle Korver can knock down the 3's like none other. Samuel Dalembert has been among league leaders in blocked shots. Kevin Ollie, while no all-star, has been a solid point guard for years now. They aren't exactly a bunch of rookies learning the game. In fact, this squad had a huge lead on a very good Wizards team this past Friday night, and let it slip. I would have to make the case for Philadelphia as the current worst of the league, with nobody to blame but their own selves. Iverson was playing most of this season for them until a few nights ago. There's really no excuse for the debacle they are in. Once the trade is made, and rebuilding starts, we should see more of the same.

It will be a sad time for the city of Philly. I can see one saving grace; they trade for a young talent..a Rashard McCants or Randy Foye type, who can excel in this league and maybe be the "next Dwyane Wade" breakout star..Until then, the struggles continue.
