Lebron & Nike

Lebron was a multi-millionaire before he even stepped into his first NBA game, thanks to Nike and a fat 90-mill contract. He now stars in commercials mainly for Nike (while D-Wade is doing everything from Lincoln to Converse to T-Mobile). To me, "The Lebrons" campaign just isn't funny or working to market Lebron. Maybe it's that I've gotten older or don't have that younger sense of humor its appealing to. However, you would think for such a mega-star, that a creative company like Nike could come up with something way better.

Now Im not being a hater. I think Lebron's the best of the best in the league. Having said that, he deserves better. Just look back at the classic ads Mike was doing for Nike with Spike Lee. "It's Gotta be the shoes", Mars would retort to Mike after trying to figure out how he was so out of this world. Lebron needs something of his own in that fashion. How about a commercial with Melo to bring the two names more into the fold? Nike might not be able to afford to put other stars in, but why not? Legends with a spectacular up and coming star would be smart. It just seems like Nike could do so much more to market this star and isn't. Why not put the "King James" nickname to use? Put Lebron as the King of a basketball nation ruling over the peasants with his bball skills. Hopefully Nike changes things up soon and gives this reigning star the ad campaigns and promos he needs.
