The Celtics' Green

Boston.com has a graphic chart which shows the top 20 NBA player salaries as well as the NBA teams ranked from top to bottom in terms of overall salary. Kobe Bryant ranks at 8th on the list while Cleveland phenom, Lebron James isn't on the chart. The overall highest paid player is Kevin Garnett, the new Boston Celtic at $21 million. More interesting is that Paul Pierce is also in the top 20 as is new Celtic, Brian Grant. While Brian Grant may surprise some, the chart notes his former team is continuing to pay on his contract as well. Amazingly, the Celtics rank 17th in terms of total salary after adding Garnett and Allen to the already high salary of Paul Pierce. The top team in terms of NBA salary is the New York Knicks, followed by the Philadelphia 76ers and Dallas Mavericks.

The chart will definitely cause some eyebrows to raise as guys like Jalen Rose and Chris Webber rank high on the list despite dismal performances and contributions to their teams in recent years. This chart should work in favor of any upcoming free agents to really prove their worth to teams.
