NBA's Sexual Harassment Issue
The recent 11.6 million dollars awarded to Anucha Brown Sanders due to harassment by her employer the New York Knicks and Isiah Thomas sends a serious message to professional sports: Sexual harassment will not be tolerated. Brown Sanders said she filed this suit on behalf of all women, so that others will come forth and report violations and harassment.
Anita Hill wrote a recent guest article for the Boston Globe regarding the whole issue with harassment and discrimination. Hill was involved in the Clarence Thomas sexual harassment suit years ago, when she was working for Thomas a supreme court justice. Hill later provided important testimony against the judge, Clarence Thomas.
In her article, Hill discusses that the NBA needs to step up take a serious look at the issue, and make it one of its top issues on the agenda. Looks like David Stern will be one busy commissioner. Read the full article here.
