Kobe's Sorry and Fisher Quits

Kobe Bryant is always in the news, whether it's he is leaving the Lakers or planning to stay put. He recently made some harsh comments about the Lakers' GM several weeks ago. According to ESPN sports:

"Kobe Bryant says he has apologized face-to-face to Mitch Kupchak for his comments about the Lakers' GM from several weeks ago. "It was important for me to tell him, 'I'm sorry it came out that way,'" Bryant said. The Lakers star did not rescind his trade request, however. Oh -- so what does this have to do with expensive jewelry? Well, I think we all can safely assume that Bryant apologized to Kupchak the same way he always apologizes: with the gift of a $4 million, purple diamond ring. "

In other news, Derek Fisher an NBA champion and former Laker himself was asked by the Jazz for a release from the team. Fisher wanted to be with his daughter more to assist with her care. Fisher's 11 year old daughter has been undergoing treatments at a New York hospital for retiniblastoma, a cancerous tumor in her eye.

In a recent story from MSNBC.com:

Derek Fisher is interested in playing with the New York Knicks because he could be near his ill daughter, the Newark (N.J.) Star-Ledger reported Wednesday.

But a return to the Los Angeles Lakers is more likely, Fisher's agent, Mark Bartelstein said, the newspaper reported.
