Wade Grants Wish
Sportscenter on ESPN is presenting a daily segment each day this week called "My Wish". The segments feature a pro sports star helping make the wish of a terminally ill youngster come true. Today's story featured Noa Ornellas, a 10 year old who was born with a liver problem and was given little chance to live after birth. Luckily a liver donor was found for the youngster. After that, he had an infection and again was not given time to live. But the infection cleared up and Noa continued to live and display toughness. Today he lives in Oahu, Hawaii with his mother and has a passion for basketball, with his favorite player being Miami Heat guard, Dwyane Wade.
Wade sent a personally handwritten letter to Noa and then had him and his mother flown out to Chicago. Wade hung out with the youngster at the arcade, then brought him to his crib and gave him a pair of Wade Converse sneakers among other gifts. Wade and Noa played a game of "H-E-A-T" and then 1 on 1 on Wade's outdoor basketball court. A great story showing Noa's toughness and the kind acts that go unseen these days in the NBA. Great to see this story when we hear so much about on and off the court problems, but a humble superstar like D-Wade continues to do good things. Kudos to Wade and the Heat organization.
