What's Wrong With the Nets
For most of my time as an NBA fan, my team of choice was the Chicago Bulls, who I still root for as contenders today. But when New Jersey had its team of Jason Kidd along with Kenyon Martin and then Richard Jefferson I became hooked on them. Kidd's playmaking along with ferocious dunks by K-Mart and RJ were too much fun to watch..and then they added my fave player in the league, Vince, and it was over. Getting to see them play on TV regularly on the YES channel is great.
Enough of that, this season many picked NJ to get to the Eastern Conference finals series in the NBA. Right now the East (again) looks weak. For a while it was, "WOW Atlanta is good?" or talk of the Cavs beating the Spurs..The Cavs now seem to be finding themselves. Atlanta is just another East Coast team that can get hot. The predicted contending teams aren't looking so hot, i.e. Miami, New Jersey and Chicago. The Nets would probably be sitting at the top right now, if not for the loss of Richard Jefferson to an ankle injury, indefinitely.
The Nets have that powerful 3-headed monster of Richard Jefferson, Vince and J-Kidd. When the 3 are playing their best, this team is tough to beat. Even sometimes when 1 doesnt play well the other 2 pick up the slack.. Right now with no RJ In the lineup, they struggle. The Nets have a talented bench with guys like Antoine Wright and my man Marcus Williams coming off the bench at point, but RJ provides them scoring and rebounding lifts they need at times. His injury is hurting them alot now and not having a suitable replacement is equally damaging. Being blown out by the Blazers, a young team who traded alot of itself away this off-season, is disgusting. RJ will hopefully be back soon, as well as Josh Boone, who is eager to start his NBA career.
In other news, are the Jazz for real? I knew they were well-coached but never thought they'd be playing like this. In fact (yes I dont love them) I would have thought they would be scraping for the 8 spot in the playoffs out West..
And the Celtics now have a nice little 3 game win streak. Impressive, but the teams they beat aren't..Still exciting to see their young guys out there having fun.
